As my father mentioned, my name is DJ King, and I am honored to represent not only my family here today, but a 3rd generation of involvement with the Sevier County Library.
Our family is thrilled to announce that we will be making a gift of one million dollars to help fund this project. Furthermore...an additional 500,000 dollars is offered as a CHALLENGE to the community for their involvement in the success of this campaign.
40 years ago... Mr. Johnny Waters, along with others, had the foresight to see the importance of a new public library in Sevier County. At that time, he approached my grand-father A. J. King about giving a 1,000 dollar gift to the campaign. Now, at the dawn of 2007, our family's gift is a bit larger, but the spirit has remained unchanged. Again Mr. Waters approached our family about giving...but instead of my grandfather challenging the community it is his grandchildren.
