Checkout:
To check out materials, ALL patrons must have a valid Sevier County Public Library card in hand at the time of checkout. Exception: If the patron is personally known by a SCPL staff member who can locate their patron number in the computer records, and that patron is not otherwise blocked from checking out materials, the staff member may circulate the materials to the patron.
Fines/Fees: The SCPLS shall set all fines and fees.
Patrons are responsible for all fines and fees incurred while using library materials and or services. Overdue notifications in the form of telephone calls or cards/letters are made as a courtesy, and the library is not responsible for lost postal notifications or missed calls. Patrons who fail to return library materials will be subjected to legal action as deemed appropriate by the Sevier County Public Library Board
A new card is free unless you already have one and then the replacement is $3.00. Anyone within the Nolichucky Region will be eligible for a card unless there are outstanding fines for that person on an existing card. The Noli region consists of: Sevier, Cocke, and Jefferson counties.
- Non-resident fee for a library card is $25.00 per person per year and it is non refundable.
- Inter-library loan charge for postage is $2.00 per book
- Replacement fee for lost cards is $3.00.
- Copy machine/computer charge is $.15 per page for letter/legal size & $.30 per page for ledger size.
- Microfilm reader printer charge (Genealogy) is $.15 per page.
- Fax machine charges: The cost to send or receive is $1.00 for the first page and $.50 for each additional page.
- There is no loan or deposit fee for videos but if they out over 7 days, the fine will be $2.00 per day per video for each day the library is open.
- Any individual with fines totaling $5.00 or more may not borrow materials until all fines and costs are paid. Fines are not charged for materials which are lost and paid for.
- The maximum fine for any single item is the replacement cost of the item plus a processing fee of $5.00. An exception is that the $5.00 fee will not be charged if the replacement cost is less than $5.00. An example is the video case which can usually be replaced for $1.00. If a video case is damaged or lost, the customer will be charged the cost of the case plus $1.00.
