The Sevier County Public Library System subscribes to online databases as a free service to our patrons. Find
pertinent information on specialized topics, census records, articles and more. Call 865•453•3532 or visit the

The 111 Greatest Acts of the Anglo-American Folk Tradition
A science librarian by day and an expert on Alfred Russell Wallace, Charles H. Smith is the developer of a
number of award-winning sites in folk and classical music. His newest ranks 111 folk legends, complete with
annotations, and then adds links to video recordings on You Tube. A very popular site.
 
American Library Association
The American Library Association is the oldest and largest library association in the world. ALA offers professional services and publications to members and nonmembers, including online news stories from American Libraries and analysis of crucial issues from the Washington Office.

Genealogy, Family Trees and Family History Records online. Ancestry | library edition can only be accessed by
visiting the Sevier County Public Library System main library, the Kodak Branch, Seymour Branch or the
History Center.

Provides access to a digital library of 200+ reference books across subject disciplines (dictionaries, thesauri, image collections and encyclopedias).
 
Global Change Master Directory
Use this site to locate global change research data from 1200 government agencies, universities, and other
institutions worldwide. Included are descriptions of more than 16,000 data sets in a variety of topics from
agriculture to human dimensions to sun-earth interactions.
 
HeritageQuest online
Find information about people and places by using Census Records, Books, PERSI, The Revolutionary War
Records and Freedman's Bank. Requires a library card for access.
 
LearningExpressLibrary
LearningExpress Library is a comprehensive, interactive online learning platform of practice tests and tutorial
course series designed to help patrons—students and adult learners—succeed on the academic or licensing
tests they must pass. Sign in as a "new user" and set up an account. The user name will be your library card.
 
MARS
Best free Reference Web Sites. This is composed of an index of the web sites included in the 1999-2006 annual
lists issued by the Mars Best of Free Reference Web Sites Committee of the Machine-Assisted Reference
Section (MARS) of the Reference and User Services Association (RUSA) of (ALA) to recognize outstanding
reference sites on the World Wide Web.
 
Martin Luther King, Jr. papers Project
In 1985 Coretta Scott King asked Stanford historian Clayborne Carson to edit and publish the papers of Martin
Luther King Jr. Since then, numerous resources illustrating his life have been published online. Here you can
read his biography, view a chronology of his life, and listen to some of his most famous sermons like

The on-line edition of the Tennessee Encyclopedia of History and Culture is a joint project of the Tennessee
Historical Society and the University of Tennessee Press. This fully searchable version of the print edition,
originally published in 1998, contains over 1,500 entries. The online version has updates to existing entries, new
entries, more than five hundred additional images, plus audio and video files.

The information presented on this site is used by county Assessors of Property to assess the value of real estate
