East Tennessee Historical Society
This society, incorporated in 1925, interprets and preserves the heritage and culture of those who settled and built up the eastern Tennessee area.

Smoky Mountain Historical Society, Inc.
The site of this Tri-County organization, head-quartered in Sevierville, contains important information about the society and its publications & programs. Other important state links are a part of this site.

The Sevier County Heritage Museum

The Sevier County Heritage Museum opened July 10, 1995, as part of Sevierville's Bicentennial Celebration. The U. S. Postal Service sold the former Sevierville Post Office building to the county, The building is the site of the new museum.

Poor Farm Records of Tennessee Counties

Poorhouses were residential institutions to which people were required to go if they could not support themselves. They were started as a method of providing a less expensive (to the taxpayers) alternative to what we would now days call "welfare" it was called "outdoor relief" in those days.

The local chapter of the DAR has provided information about their activities as well as links to the National Society's page and other Tennessee Chapters. Of particular interest to many may be the DAR Markers in Sevier County.
