Adult Education Programs
 
     
  English as a Second Language
 
   
English is taught by the immersion method to immigrants. This is a conversational class focusing on fuctional skills to help the student function in the community. Vocabulary, conversation, speaking and listening are stressed. There are four levels of classes: Beginners, High Beginners, Intermediate, and Advanced. Certificates are given when students have attended ten classes and also when students advance a level. Classes are offered on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Prospective students must register and pre-test before attending classes.
 
   
  GED Classes
   
   
GED classes are offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Both morning and evening classes are available. Prospective students must register and pre-test before attending classes. The cost of the test is $55.00. Materials and instruction are free. The test will be given monthly at the Adult School.
 
     
   
The GED test consists of five tests: Science, Social Studies, Reading, Math and Language Arts. A 200-word essay is also a requirement.
 
 
 
   
Basic Skills: Individual tutoring sesssions are offered to adults who cannot read or who need to upgrade their reading and math skills.
 
     
 
  Adult High School Diploma  
     
   
Any adult who needs only a few credits to obtain a high school diploma is encouraged to work for those credits at the Adult School. Prospective students must bring a transcript from their last high school. 133 hours of study are required for each credit needed.
 
     
  Spanish Conversational Class
       
   
A Spanish conversational class is offered twice a year, in September and in January. The class is held on Tuesdays from 6:00 until 9:00 for ten weeks. The cost of the class is $65. Prospective students must call and have their names placed on a list.
 
       
  Exit-Option Classes  
       
    These classes are available to those high schools who are eligible.
